Don't be a lukewarm Christian

Hi everyone... it has been a long time.. I promise from now on I'll be on here reguarly! Finals is coming up and like most college students I can't wait to stay up late studying and stressing and then to celebrate when summer is finally here! A lot has happened with me lately... school, our head coach resigning and my recovery not going as planned! But one thing that I'm continually working on is to not be a lukewarm Christian.. I have been reading several books.. one of them beinf "I kissed dating goodbye" which is an amazing book about love and relationships and how to keep it within Gods standards... recommended to me by one amazing girl, Caitlyn, thanks again!! And another book I'm rereading called "Crazy Love" it is also a must read... and I just read a chapter talking about the lukewarm Christian and it really made me examine my faith....
Here are my thoughts after reading it... Wow... what a challenging chapter to get through..  it made me really examine my relationship with God on the personal level and on the outside where people can see..there was probably 15 different ways in which a person is lukewarm in their faith and I aligned up with too many of them... like 2 Corinthians 13:5 says "examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves".... lukewarm and uncommitted faith is completely useless, God didnt say that if you wanted to follow him you could do it in a lukewarm manner. He said "take up your cross and follow me"
Okay I hope this will help many of you like it helped myself..  hope everyone aces their finals and doesn't stress too much... remember we are all too blessed to be stressed!

two weeks left...

It's been almost a month since the last time I looked at this blank blog post and typed stuff that I seemed to know a little bit about. I am sorry for being so inconsistent with this. Whats been going on you might ask..
1) We have had two exhibition games and won them both, Yes the season is starting officially this week!!
2) Seeing that the season is here I have a whole different aprroach to it this year, knowing that I wont get one second of playing time or even a chance to put on my jersey is a little hard for me.
3) For games now I am dressed up and have got mistaken for a coach several times. I take stats while the game is going and try to be an encourager/ helper on the sidelines.
4) It is almost two weeks until my surgery and I find myself wanting to run and jump all the time knowing I wont be able to do any of that for several months in a row.
5) School is good, just ready for this semester to be over with!
6) My schedule for next semester is awesome! I have a group communication class, a nonverbal communication class, and a  gender and communication class... let's just saw I will be talking a lot next semester!
7) The parents are coming for my surgery for a whole week, and even though I'll be in pain I cant wait til they get here. And so happy they are able to come visit in my time of need.

But that;s about it for me, I try to keep focusing on the little things that truly matter in life, and that is consistently making me happy day in and day out. I am very blessed for the friends and family I have. until next time.. Much love :)

4. I got an MRI on my right hip and found out that I have an entire anteroir tear in my labrum and that I need surgery and total recovery from surgery is a year....
5. As a result, I will be red shirting this year, and have my first consultation appointment on November 9th.
6. It's going to be hard not playing but I know this will get me better and I will come back stronger next year.
7. I set up my classes for next semester and I cant wait to take them :)
Other than that I havent really had anything exciting happen to me...

Hi, everyone!

I left my apartment at 7:35 this morning and didnt get back home and done with everything until 7:35 tonight... ironic I know.. but if you think about that that's a loonngggg day! Heres some things I am happy and blessed about!

-- God has shown me time and time again this school year that he is my ultimate strength.

--My birthday is on Sunday.. Yes i am turning the big 2-0!!! And I get to celebrate it with my family that following weekend!

--Also on my birthday we have our first official basketball practice at midnight! We are having our own just the team midnight madness!!!

--I am becoming closer to everyone of my teammates and love and truly care about every single one of them!

--I have recently got to do more in practice.. since I hurt my hips last fall and now have tendeonitious in both of them I have been in pain and not been able to run very much in practice and havent played/scrimmaged since march... I miss it so much. But the way it looks is that it still may be awhile, I need some prayers for my trainers and doctors to find something that will make them feel better.. prayers would be much appreciated.

--On the brighter side, I can still shoot and I still have the passion for the game I love!

--I get reminded everyday how lucky I am to have to friends and family that I have. Had two heart to hearts with two of my best friends tonight... yeah thats one successful night in my book :)

--BIG SHOUTOUT to Chelsea Williams... you are always here for me when I need a good laugh, a smart remark or just someone to listen to me.. through my hectic schedule!! You are an amazing person and I am lucky to call you my best friend!!

--Homecoming is this weekend and our football team is going to dominate!! Look for me on a float in the Homecoming Parade!!

okay I think thats all for now.. time to get some sleep!

Songs always have a memory behind them..

Today is Saturday, and it's our last weekend off before we begin official practice, so it consists of a lot of relaxing. To go along with that, I am bored and gonna shuffle through my songs on my ipod, and let you know what that song reminds me of!

1. Blunt Blowin by Lil Wayne
I absolutely love this song. I recently purchased the Lil Wayne album so I have been listening to it a lot. Usually when I listen to this song I am driving with my windows down trying to look like I'm "cool" lol

2. Ride for you by Danity Kane
This is one of my favorite songs by Danity Kane. I relate it to the relationship I want to have in the future. I will do anything to make sure that the relationship stays healthy. And I hope that the guy feels and does the same. I will never "throw in the towel" with any relationship in my life.

3. If I Die Young by the Band Perry
Whenever I hear this song I immediately think back to our basketball trip to San Diego State where we played what we call the headphone game on the bus. It is when someone puts on headphones and sings the song as best as they can out loud for everyone. Well it just so happened that this was my song and I know all the words and I was that girl that tried my hardest to harmonize, and FAILED. Everyone was laughing and it was my "song" for the year at our banquet. Let's just say I will never live that down.

4. Hoedown Throwdown by Miley Cyrus
I have to admit i always skip over this song when it comes over the screen on my phone. But I always think of the time a few days before senior year when Chelsea, Skye, Shayla, and Courtney stayed the night at my house and we stayed uo til like 3 in the morning learning this dance, by repeatedly rewinding the dancing part in the movie. haha good times!

5. How far do you wanna go? By Gloriana
I absolutely love this band.. When I hear this song I immediately think about their concert I went to with my two best friends Chelsea and Kellie.. And how I didn't realize that that's who's concert we were going to.. Hahaha

Putting others first.

Today is a normal just like any other day in the life of Amber, and today especially I am over joyed with the love of God and my friends. Whenever I am down about a certain thing whether its my confidence in taking a test or even just that I had a bad practice, my friends and teammates are always there by my side cheering me on. On the other end of the spectrum in spirit form, God is always here challenging me every minute of everyday. He continues to work through me and through events in my day. He is my rock that I go to in times of triumph, and I am also working on going to him multiple times during the day even if its for a few minutes just to talk to him and listen to his advice. It becomes hard to do in the busy life that I live because I am trying to manage school, practice, rehab, eating right, and getting enough rest. But I have come to realize that He doesnt need hours of me, just minutes throughout the day is enough for him. One goal I have been working on is investing in the people around me, for example actually asking and listening how that person is doing and/or just simply helping them in time of need. Always put others first is my thinking! Always remember do unto others as you wold want them to do unto you! God is love! Byee
